Palayam or Cantonment, as it is locally known, one of the busiest localities in Thiruvananthapuram. It gets its name from the fact that it used to be camp of the royal army and cavalry of the kings of Travancore.

തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ ഒരു തിരക്കേറിയ സ്ഥലമാണു പാളയം. തിരുവിതാംകൂർ സൈന്യം ഇവിടെ താവളമടിച്ചിരുന്നതിനാലാണു ഈ പേരു കിട്ടിയതെന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. കണ്ണിമാറ ചന്ത, പാളയം രക്തസാക്ഷി മണ്ഡപം, ചന്ദ്രശേഖരൻ നായർ സ്റ്റേഡിയം എന്നിവ പാളയത്തു സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു.
