A favourite of adventure seekers, Anchuruli is a tourist
destination located in the catchment area of the Idukki dam. Perched at a height of 2,430 ft above sea level, Anchuruli, also spelt Anjuruli, is known for a 5.5-km long circular tunnel that carries water from Erattayar dam near Kattappana to Idukki reservoir and the gushing waterfall.

The word Anchuruli means “five vessels” and it refers to the five small hills that are in the shape of inverted vessels that become visible when the water level in the Idukki reservoir comes down.
