Payyanur is a municipal town and a taluk in the Kannur. On 10 March 2018, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated Payyanur as the fifth taluk in the district. The town is situated on the banks of the Perumba River. Payyanur is located 36 km North from Kannur.
കണ്ണൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ ഒരു മുനിസിപ്പൽ പട്ടണവും താലൂക്കുമാണ് പയ്യന്നൂർ. 2018 മാർച്ച് 10 ന് കേരള മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയൻ ജില്ലയിലെ അഞ്ചാമത്തെ താലൂക്കായി പയ്യന്നൂരിനെ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. പെരുമ്പ നദിയുടെ തീരത്താണ് ഈ പട്ടണം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. കണ്ണൂരിൽ നിന്ന് 36 കിലോമീറ്റർ വടക്കായാണ് പയ്യന്നൂർ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
